Delaware Public Humanities Institute (DELPHI)

The Delaware Public Humanities Institute (DELPHI) is a two-week intensive public humanities workshop for MA and PhD candidates working in material culture and the humanities at the University of Delaware. During the workshop, DELPHI summer fellows were encouraged to explore different outreach and communication methods aimed towards a variety of audiences outside of their specialties. Selected fellows learned about topics such as digital humanities, personal branding and website building, interview skills, and crafting an elevator pitch. DELPHI fellows are required to incorporate the skills they have learned during the workshop to craft a public engagement workshop where they are sharing their MA and PhD projects to audiences outside of their specialities.
I was selected to participate in the DELPHI workshop during the summer of 2022. My public engagement project is collaborating with the Winterthur Museum to create a three-part virtual tour series focused on the museum’s China Trade artifacts.
